Treatment Focus: Mood and anxiety disorders; women’s mental health; patients with trauma or life-stressors; culturally marginalized populations including migrants, those identifying as LGBTQ and those with disabilities; patients with comorbid neurologic and psychiatric concerns.
Sarah Schwenk is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and a senior instructor in psychiatry at the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center. Sarah brings to the Depression Center experience in spinal cord injury and brain injury medicine, experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry as well as experiences in rural and international health care. She has a passion for patient safety, bioethics and evidenced-based care which informs her clinical interventions.
Sarah’s goal as a provider is to meet patient’s needs from a holistic, trauma-informed and culturally sensitive point-of-view. She seeks to partner with patients to identify the biological, social, and environmental roots of their concerns so as to develop an effective and meaningful path towards meeting the patient’s mental health goals.
